Norris Green: Shoppers were shocked to find the All in One shop on Muirhead Avenue East closed, with their important parcels still inside. It’s been two months since the shop shut down.

Can you believe it? The store closed just days before Christmas, leaving folks scrambling to get their gifts. People who had pre-ordered items were met with locked doors last month.

The Liverpool Council’s licensing team took action against the shop as part of a crackdown on illegal vape sales. They found counterfeit cigarettes and vapes being sold, including to underage kids.

With Christmas just around the corner, regular customers had to find other ways to get their gifts. A notice about the shop’s closure was posted outside, adding to the frustration.

Now, Liverpool Council has confirmed that a two-month closure order was secured from the courts after a hearing on December 13. So, the shop won’t reopen until at least February 13.

But there’s more. The shop’s premises licence will be reviewed by the city’s licensing committee on January 21, which could lead to even tougher penalties, including a possible licence revocation.

It turns out the shop had received warnings from the council’s alcohol and tobacco unit about selling illegal vapes and cigarettes. They even sold vapes to kids under 18 during undercover checks.

The shop’s licence is held by director Rajeethan Markandu, who wasn’t there when the closure order was issued. One shopper, Gill Johnson, shared her story about ordering a gift for her daughter’s birthday, which is on Christmas Day.

She mentioned, “I had to reorder to my home, which cost me £3.99 while a discount code was still valid. My son and his girlfriend also have parcels there, and I often get my stuff delivered there since he lives nearby.”

After Christmas, Gill managed to find a replacement gift for her daughter but is still waiting for a refund on her original order.
