Cadent is set to replace 2.5km of gas pipes along London Road, impacting traffic from January to September.
Wickford: Cadent is kicking off a project to replace 2.5 kilometers of gas pipes along London Road. This work will run from January 2 to September 8, so expect some changes in traffic.
The project starts at number 168 London Road and goes all the way to the junction with Harding’s Elms Road in Billericay. They’ll mostly use temporary traffic lights, but there will be a road closure in August at that junction.
Carl Williams, who’s in charge of the project, mentioned that there have been a lot of repairs on these gas mains over the years. This has caused quite a bit of traffic hassle. So, they’ve come up with this plan to cut down on future disruptions.
While it might be a bit of a pain during the work, the goal is to make things smoother in the long run. This way, they won’t have to keep fixing the same issues, which should help with traffic flow.
In the end, this upgrade is all about making sure the gas network is reliable and keeping everyone safe and warm.
They’ve got the work divided into six phases, starting with the first one from January 2 to March 3, covering from 168 to 312 London Road.
Each phase has its own timeline, with the last phase wrapping up on September 8. They’ll be working hard to minimize disruption, with crews on-site seven days a week.
