A family is devastated after their dog died in a kennel flood during their holiday
On New Year’s Day, severe flooding hit the kennels, and sadly, four dogs lost their lives. Most were rescued, but Pip wasn’t so lucky. The kennel owner, who was visibly upset, called Mr. Denton around 5 PM to deliver the heartbreaking news.
Mr. Denton described the moment as shocking, saying they all burst into tears when they heard. Losing Pip felt like losing a family member, and the family is completely devastated.
Chloe, Mr. Denton’s daughter, is so upset that she can’t even come home from Spain. She loved Pip dearly, and her brother Harvey is worried about her well-being.
Pip had been a source of comfort for Mr. Denton’s partner, who struggles with depression, making this loss even harder for the family. They believe more could have been done to warn people about the flooding.
Mr. Denton praised the kennel owner for his efforts to save the dogs, saying he did his best in a tough situation. He feels the responsibility lies with those managing the waterways.
The Environment Agency stated that flood alerts were issued before the flooding occurred, but the family feels the warnings weren’t sufficient. The kennel owner has been contacted for further comments.
