A shocking video shows dead unborn snakes spilling onto a road after their mother, a giant anaconda, was tragically run over.
The footage is pretty grim. You see this huge snake, split open, with a pile of tiny, lifeless snakes just oozing out onto the pavement. It’s a tough watch, for sure.
About 40 of these little guys, all over a foot long, were found. They looked like they were almost ready to be born, which makes it even sadder. The whole scene is a mix of nature’s beauty and a bit of horror, with the snakes swirling around each other, but then you see the guts and it’s just… yikes.
This all went down on the MT-338 motorway in central-west Brazil. The poor anaconda was clearly heavily pregnant, and none of the babies made it. The video was shot by a friend of a local fisherman, who stumbled upon this shocking sight while driving back from a fishing trip.
It’s wild to think about how big these snakes can get. The green anaconda can grow over eight meters long and weigh up to 100 kg. Unlike most snakes that lay eggs, anacondas give birth to live young, which makes this incident even more tragic.
And if that’s not enough, there was another story recently about a giant python in Thailand that ate a dog and was later found struggling in floodwaters. Nature can be pretty brutal sometimes, can’t it?
