A waiter linked to the death of Liam Payne has been arrested in Argentina, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the pop star’s tragic end
Buenos Aires: So, there’s some serious news coming out of Argentina. A waiter named Braian Paiz, just 24 years old, has been arrested in connection with the death of pop star Liam Payne. This all started when he was charged along with four others after Liam’s tragic fall from a hotel balcony last October.
Payne, who was only 31, fell from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo hotel. It’s a real shocker, right? Paiz and another hotel worker were accused of supplying drugs to Liam, which could land them in some deep trouble—up to 15 years if convicted.
In a local TV interview, Paiz admitted to using drugs with Liam but insisted he didn’t give him anything or take any cash. He was arrested at his home in Ingeniero Budge, and it seems the police also tried to find another suspect, Ezequiel Pereyra, but he wasn’t home.
Paiz’s lawyer argued that he wasn’t a flight risk and shouldn’t be held in pre-trial detention. Meanwhile, there are other folks involved too, like businessman Rogelio Nores, who claims he left the hotel before the incident and denies any wrongdoing.
Three others, including the hotel manager and receptionist, are also facing charges of manslaughter. They’re not in custody but can’t leave Argentina. Reports say that Liam was in pretty bad shape before he fell, demanding drugs and alcohol, and the hotel staff should have done more to keep him safe.
If these guys are found guilty, they could be looking at some serious jail time. Liam’s funeral was held back in November, and it was attended by family and friends, including his former One Direction bandmates. It’s just a heartbreaking situation all around.
