London: So, Wes Streeting is really going after Elon Musk. He called Musk’s suggestion that Jess Phillips should be jailed totally ridiculous. It all started when Musk took to X, the platform he owns, to criticize Phillips for opposing a government inquiry into child grooming gangs.

Streeting, the health secretary, didn’t hold back. He said Musk was “ill-informed” and that his comments were unfair to both Phillips and Keir Starmer, who Musk also dragged into the conversation. Musk claimed that Starmer, when he was head of the Crown Prosecution Service, didn’t do enough to tackle these serious crimes.

Musk tweeted about how serious crimes like rape need CPS approval for police to charge anyone. He pointed fingers at Starmer, saying he was in charge when these gangs were exploiting young girls. He even suggested that Phillips was protecting Starmer by not investigating the gangs.

When asked about Musk’s comments, Streeting responded on Sky News, saying it was a ridiculous thing to say. He defended Starmer, mentioning how he opened up historic cases as Director of Public Prosecutions. Streeting emphasized that he’s more focused on what the government is doing to help victims rather than Musk’s opinions.

It’s clear that this back-and-forth isn’t going to die down anytime soon. Streeting is committed to making real changes, and he’s not letting Musk’s comments distract him from that goal.
