Wick community councillors commend volunteers for their festive lighting efforts
The local community councillors couldn’t stop praising the small group of volunteers who worked hard to make the town shine for the holidays. The switch-on was part of the Wick Fun Day on November 30, and it really brought people together.
The Christmas tree in the square was a real showstopper, and everyone loved it. Fun Day was a hit, featuring 33 market stalls that kept the crowds entertained all day long.
Claire Mackenzie leads the Wick Christmas Lights Committee, which is a part of the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council. At the council’s January meeting, chairman Allan Farquhar shared how successful the Fun Day was, calling it one of the best markets north of Inverness.
He made sure to give a shout-out to Claire and her team, saying they did an amazing job. Vice-chairman Allan Bruce echoed those sentiments, expressing how great their achievements were.
Mr. Farquhar also mentioned how excellent the tree looked, and treasurer Joanna Coghill chimed in, saying it was the prettiest tree they’d seen in ages. To top it all off, Santa and his helpers offered sleigh rides around town, adding to the festive fun.
