The popular café at Wickford Memorial Park will reopen this Friday, offering a fresh start and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors
Wickford: The Memorial Park Café is making a comeback this Friday from noon to 3 PM. It’s been closed since Huttons shut down back in December.
Located at the Pavilion off Rettendon View, this café was a favorite hangout for dog walkers, families, and volunteers. The new owners are sprucing up the place and giving it a fresh name.
A spokesperson for the café shared, “We’re excited to kick things off with a soft opening on Friday, January 10. Come join us for an open buffet and enjoy the cozy vibe we’ve been working on.”
They also mentioned that their dog-friendly area will still be available for furry pals, but they’re looking into some changes to make it even better for everyone.
“We can’t wait to celebrate this moment with you all, so come on down!” they added.
Huttons had been a staple in the park for about seven years, and the previous owners expressed their gratitude to the loyal customers before the transition.
Kim Oakes, a town councillor and chair of the Friends of Wickford Memorial Park volunteers, is really hopeful about the new café. She said, “It’s a great addition to the park.”
She emphasized how important it is for park-goers to have access to refreshments and restrooms, noting that this café is the only one in Wickford with those amenities.
Kim also pointed out that volunteers often use the café as a meeting spot after their work in the park, which is great for everyone’s well-being.
Plus, the café has been a venue for their committee meetings and holiday gatherings.
She mentioned that the new owners are super enthusiastic and have plenty of exciting plans for the café’s future.
