Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the tragic fire that claimed the life of 18-year-old Leah Casson in North Shields.
North Shields: It’s been a tough couple of years since that tragic fire took Leah Casson’s life. She was just 18 when it happened on January 16, 2023.
Fire crews and police rushed to the scene on Vicarage Street, but sadly, Leah didn’t make it. While three others got out safely, Leah’s body was later discovered.
Now, two people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. A woman in her 40s and a young man in his late teens were taken in by the police.
They’ve been released on bail while the investigation continues. Northumbria Police is still digging into what led to the fire and Leah’s tragic death.
A spokesperson mentioned that the investigation is quite complex, and they’re determined to find out exactly what happened.
Leah’s family has been heartbroken over the loss. They described her as a vibrant and loving young woman, and they’re asking for privacy as they grieve.
