A woman faces court for allegedly killing a father-of-six on Christmas Day in Staffordshire, shocking the local community.
Norton Canes: A woman named Kirsty Carless, 33, is in court for allegedly murdering a father-of-six on Christmas Day. The victim, Louis Price, was a well-loved fisherman and Aston Villa fan.
During a video link hearing from HMP Foston Hall, Carless only confirmed she could hear the proceedings. The judge, Michael Chambers KC, decided she should stay in custody until her next court date.
That next hearing is set for January 31 at Stafford Crown Court, where she’ll enter a plea. Her lawyer mentioned there wouldn’t be a bail application.
Police were called to Elm Road around 3:25 AM on Christmas Day after reports of a man in cardiac arrest. Sadly, despite efforts to save him, Louis passed away shortly after.
His family shared how much he meant to the community, saying he was always smiling and ready to help others. They described him as a passionate fisherman and a devoted Aston Villa supporter.
They expressed their heartbreak, saying life will never be the same without him. The police have also referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
A trial is tentatively scheduled for June 2, expected to last two to three weeks, with Judge Kristina Montgomery KC presiding.
