Customs officials found 460 chocolate bars that she didn’t declare when she arrived. They’re saying she might face some serious tax evasion charges, but she wasn’t arrested.
This chocolate is all the rage online, thanks to a TikTok influencer who went viral for eating it. It’s got this amazing mix of pistachio cream and knafeh, all wrapped in milk chocolate. Sounds delicious, right?
Officials think she was planning to sell the chocolate since she brought in so much. The bars were worth about €2,100, which is around £1,759. She claimed she paid about €4.60 for each bar, but that’s still a lot of chocolate!
What’s more, the packaging didn’t even have any ingredient or allergen info, which is a big no-no for health safety. The customs folks are really worried about that.
They mentioned that aside from the tax issues, they’re mainly focused on keeping people safe in Germany. It’s a good reminder that we need to be careful about what we import.
Fun fact: This chocolate was created by a British-Egyptian entrepreneur in Dubai back in 2021. She wanted something special after craving sweets during her pregnancy.
Her brand, Fix Dessert Chocolatier, has a bar called “Can’t Get Knafeh of It,” but you can only get it in Dubai. There are copycats popping up everywhere, though!
