A mother has been banned from keeping dogs after neglecting her son’s bulldog, leading to its suffering and eventual death
Wouldham: A mother of eight, Tanya Alabaf, has been banned from owning dogs for life. She neglected her son’s bulldog, Ceasar, leaving him starving and untreated for a serious skin condition.
Ceasar was in terrible shape, suffering from mange, sores, and severe weight loss. Alabaf didn’t feed him or give him water, and she never took him to the vet. Sadly, Ceasar had to be put down after he started having seizures.
The situation came to light when a police officer visited Alabaf’s home for an unrelated issue. The officer noticed Ceasar’s poor condition and recorded it on his body camera, which was later shown in court.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Ceasar had been suffering for months. Alabaf had taken care of him while his owner was in prison, but everything fell apart in her life after she was attacked with a knife.
She admitted to failing Ceasar and expressed her emotional distress during interviews. The court learned that she was overwhelmed, living in emergency accommodation, and struggling to care for her five children.
Despite her difficult circumstances, the magistrates emphasized that she should have sought help or taken Ceasar to a shelter instead of letting him suffer. Alabaf received a community order, which includes rehabilitation sessions and unpaid work, along with a lifetime ban on dog ownership.
Ceasar’s veterinary costs will be covered by the court, highlighting the serious nature of this case and the importance of animal welfare.
