Three teenagers face serious charges after a sleepover prank left a boy with severe burns in Georgia
Tifton County: A 12-year-old boy in Georgia got seriously hurt during a sleepover. He ended up with second-degree burns after some friends poured hot water on him.
The boys, aged 12 to 15, thought it would be funny, but it turned into a nightmare. They were just hanging out, playing video games, when they decided to pull this prank.
The boy’s mom, Tiffany West, shared that he was still asleep when it happened. She found out later and rushed him to a burn center in Augusta for surgery.
Now, he’s back home, but it’s going to take him a couple of weeks to heal. Tiffany is understandably upset about the whole situation. She said she felt mad and shocked when she learned what happened.
His family is still trying to wrap their heads around it. His aunt, Nachelle Austille, expressed how hard it is to believe that friends could do something so hurtful.
They’ve been juggling work and caring for him since the incident. Nachelle mentioned that her nephew will need counseling to help him trust people again, as he’s been pretty quiet about the whole ordeal.
As for the boys involved, they’ve been charged and released to their families. The details of the charges are still unclear, but they’re waiting for their first hearing next month.
