Five youths have been charged after being found inside the abandoned Letham Grange hotel during a recent emergency response
Arbroath: So, here’s the scoop. Five kids got charged after they were caught hanging out in the old Letham Grange hotel. It’s been a bit of a hotspot for trouble lately.
This all went down over the Christmas weekend when locals spotted them breaking in. There was even a whiff of smoke, which had everyone worried about a fire.
Emergency services showed up, but thankfully, no fire was found. They did find the group of youths, though. It’s just another chapter in the ongoing saga of this once-luxurious resort.
Since it closed back in 2011, Letham Grange has been a magnet for thieves and curious explorers. The place is in pretty rough shape now, and it’s been the site of around 30 emergency calls this year alone.
Local authorities are really concerned about these abandoned buildings. They’ve been urging owners to secure their properties better to keep people out.
Last year, the owners had big plans to revamp the place, but after facing a lot of pushback from the community, they decided to scrap those ideas. It’s a real shame because the hotel used to be a beautiful spot.
