Police seized 3kg of cannabis worth nearly £98,000 in Chester and Ellesmere Port, leading to 16 arrests and increased drug enforcement efforts.
The police have been stepping up their efforts against serious crime. They conducted Operation Heracles, focusing on cannabis supply in Chester and Ellesmere Port. This operation linked suppliers from Manchester and Merseyside.
In addition to this, they used drones to spot cannabis farms. In March 2024, they found 720 cannabis plants in a disused pub in Warrington. Their proactive approach has led to many successful drug seizures.
The Roads and Crime Unit has also been active. They work with neighboring forces to disrupt drug trafficking. In May 2023, they stopped a car suspected of carrying drugs and found 1kg of heroin worth over £40,000.
Overall, Cheshire Constabulary reported a 160% increase in drug seizures compared to last year. This is the highest number of seizures since 2006. The police are committed to keeping the community safe from illegal drugs.
Chief Superintendent Alison Ross emphasized their focus on disrupting drug trafficking. She noted that organized criminals are becoming more sophisticated, but the police are staying ahead. They will continue to target drug supply lines in Cheshire.
