I recently visited Jungle Peri Peri in Cwmbran and had a fantastic meal. Here’s what I thought about the experience!
Cwmbran: I’ve been keeping an eye on the food scene here. So, after Jungle Peri Peri opened about three months ago, I finally decided to check it out.
This place is the second branch of the restaurant, with the first one on Caerleon Road in Newport. It’s located in the bus station, right where Greggs used to be.
We arrived during a thick fog that rolled in, and I was really craving something warm to eat. I went for a Cobra Burrito Wrap meal deal, which comes with chips and a drink. To spice things up, I chose a ‘mild’ dressing.
Now, I usually sweat with anything spicy, so ‘mild’ was a bit daring for me. But it was delicious! The chicken was tender, and the spicy rice in the wrap was just right. I felt a nice warmth without going overboard.
My wife opted for the Tiger Pitta with peri peri chicken strips, and she loved it too. The service was top-notch, and the food was served in cute baskets at our table. The vibe was relaxed, thanks to the nice lighting and music.
We were the only ones dining in at that hour, around 8:15 PM, but a few delivery drivers came in to pick up orders. We also got a dip and some coleslaw, and the total bill was £20.30, which felt like a steal for the quality we got.
Oh, and about that photo of the Tiger Pitta—it looks huge! I used my iPhone’s wide-angle lens, so it’s a bit stretched. I finished my meal, but my wife left a few chips, so no complaints about the portions!
