Auchinleck: Remember those stories from late January and early February 2005?

In January 2005, Auchinleck Talbot officials were upset. Yobs broke into Beechwood Park and wrecked the club’s pie kiosk. They left the cooker on, causing a fire. They also stole a bunch of soft drinks.

Meanwhile, three kids were having fun building sandcastles at Mauchline Nursery. A Chronicle photographer caught the moment in January 2005.

In early 2005, the Mauchline film company Palm Tree Burns premiered their movie ‘Red Rose’ at the Odeon cinema in Kilmarnock. It was a big hit!

The Cumnock Hogmanay Bottle, known as the ‘First Footer’, appeared on the BBC’s Flog It antiques show in 2005. Gibson Kyle from the Baird Institute showcased the bottle.

Strathclyde Police brought their ‘Up To You’ bus to Logan Primary. They shared tips on crime prevention and warned about vandalism.

Lastly, a new water feature was unveiled at Visions Leisure Centre in Cumnock. It was sponsored by the French family and designed by Maggie M Broadley. Many locals attended the event.
