Aberdeen: With just under six months to go, the buzz is real for the Tall Ships Races coming to town from July 19 to 22, 2025. The fleet is growing, and it’s going to be a sight to see, especially with 17 Class A Tall Ships joining the fun.

Race registration is still open until May 1, and some cool ships have already signed up. We’ve got the Mexican Navy’s ‘Cuauhtémoc’, Poland’s ‘Fryderyk Chopin’, and Denmark’s stunning three-masted schooner ‘LOA’ on the list.

This year marks a big comeback for the Tall Ships Races in Aberdeen after nearly 30 years. It’s being called Europe’s largest free family event, and they’re expecting around 400,000 visitors over the four-day festival. That’s a huge deal for the city!

Councillor Martin Greig from the city council is excited too. He mentioned that as we hit the six-month mark, it’s a great time to look forward to all the amazing ships that will be sailing into Aberdeen.

Organizers are aiming to welcome 50 Tall Ships to the Port of Aberdeen, and they’re already at 44 confirmed vessels. That’s pretty impressive! Each ship will help draw in crowds, giving a nice boost to the local economy and culture.

Bob Sanguinetti, the CEO of the Port of Aberdeen, shared that the response from the Tall Ships fleet has been fantastic. It looks like Aberdeen is the place to be in 2025, and they can’t wait to show off the city to the international crews.

Adrian Watson, from Aberdeen Inspired, added that all sea lanes lead to Aberdeen. He’s looking forward to seeing the harbor filled with masts, making it the largest gathering of these beautiful ships in the races.

There’s a lot of excitement around this event, with over 900 people already wanting to volunteer and 300 young folks hoping to join a crew. Applications for sail trainees and volunteers are open until January 31, so there’s still time to get involved!
