Despite a strike by 37 staff members, Our Lady’s Abingdon school will remain open, ensuring students’ education continues without disruption.
But don’t worry! The school is staying open. The executive leader, Prav Karian, assured everyone that they have plans in place to keep things running smoothly for the students.
The National Education Union (NEU) is involved, and they mentioned that the teachers are part of a government pension scheme. The school’s governors want to change the pension arrangements, which the teachers aren’t happy about.
They initially thought about pulling out of the pension scheme altogether, but now they’re suggesting a new hybrid plan. It’s still a work in progress, and no final decisions have been made yet.
The NEU members voted overwhelmingly for the strike, showing just how serious they are about this issue. Phil Clarke from the NEU is calling for the governors to reconsider their approach and to treat the staff with respect.
Karian emphasized that they value their teachers and want to address their concerns. It’s a tricky situation, but the school is committed to finding a way forward.
