Exciting news! Alan Hollinghurst will headline the 2025 Marlborough LitFest
Hollinghurst, who recently received a knighthood for his contributions to literature, is known for his incredible storytelling. His latest book, “Our Evenings,” has been praised as one of his best works yet. It dives deep into themes of race, class, and love, all through the eyes of an Anglo-Burmese man.
The festival honors the legacy of William Golding, a Nobel Laureate and Booker Prize winner, by featuring a Golding Speaker each year. Past speakers have included notable authors like Linda Grant and Ali Smith.
Hollinghurst will be speaking at the Marlborough Town Hall on September 26. Judy Carver, Golding’s daughter, expressed her excitement about having such a groundbreaking novelist at the event.
Mary-Vere Parr, the festival chairwoman, also shared her enthusiasm, saying she can’t wait to welcome Hollinghurst. The festival promises a mix of events for everyone, including talks, competitions, and a focus on encouraging young readers.
Stay tuned for more details about the festival lineup, which will be released in the coming months. For updates, check out www.marlboroughlitfest.org. A big thanks to William Golding Ltd for supporting this fantastic event!
