Leighton Hospital is making changes to its car parks to improve access for patients and visitors, starting January 20.
Leighton: The NHS trust is expanding a public car park near the Maternity Department. They’re converting a staff car park behind Occupational Health for this purpose.
Starting January 20, there’s a new barrier by the building. This will help manage the entrance and exit for the pay and display parking spots.
Don’t worry, NHS workers can still use the other staff car parks. Contractors have their own designated area to help ease the demand on staff parking.
Martin Foster, the Divisional Director of Estates and Facilities, mentioned that while they can’t create a perfect parking solution, this change should make it easier for patients and visitors to park closer to the services they need.
He also noted that it should help reduce congestion at the public exit and improve traffic flow around the maternity access and main entrance roads.
And that’s not all! There’s more construction happening at Leighton Hospital. A new 1,000 sqm modular building is set to go up outside the Outpatients Department in about two months.
This new space will house Audiology and Ear, Nose, and Throat services, as they need to move due to some issues with the building materials used in the hospital.
