Locate International seeks help to identify Wark Forest Man, found dead in 1990, to give him the dignity he deserves.
Northumberland: A charity called Locate International is asking for help. They want to identify a man found dead in Wark Forest on February 2, 1990. This man is known as Wark Forest Man.
He was likely between 20 and 40 years old. He stood about 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall and had a medium build. His ethnicity was described as dark European.
Wark Forest Man died between four and 12 months before his body was found. A facial reconstruction was shared in newspapers soon after his discovery.
A hotel worker thought the image looked like a former guest named Christopher Oliver. He had an American accent and checked into the Bowes Hotel on October 14, 1989.
A book found near the body matched one missing from the hotel. Reports suggested Wark Forest Man might be Christopher Oliver, who stayed at a hotel in Haltwhistle on October 18, 1989.
There were also records of a booking under the same name at Hexham Tourist Information Centre. After that, his whereabouts are unknown.
Wark Forest Man wore outdoor clothing, including a green ‘Vander’ anorak, a ‘Lee’ denim jacket, and Hi-Tec brown walking boots.
