Lynne Atkins bids farewell to her role at Bulwark Community Centre, reflecting on three decades of community service and cherished memories.
Chepstow: Lynne Atkins, a true pillar of the Bulwark Community Centre, has officially retired after an incredible 30 years. She started as a volunteer, helping to shape the center into what it is today.
During a light lunch celebration, Lynne shared her journey, recalling how she first got involved with a simple idea for interior design. Who knew that would lead to such a fulfilling career?
She received a fancy smartwatch as a farewell gift, which was a nice touch. Lynne reflected on her father’s vision and how proud he would be of the center’s achievements.
Over the years, she saw firsthand how powerful a community can be. Each day brought its own set of challenges, but she cherished every moment spent there.
The center has hosted countless events, from summer fun to Christmas celebrations, and has worked closely with Chepstow Mencap to serve the community.
Lynne expressed her gratitude to the trustees, volunteers, and community members for their unwavering support. Together, they built a place that everyone can enjoy.
With a sparkle in her eye, she joked about not spending her retirement watching daytime TV. Instead, she looks forward to new adventures ahead.
Terry, a trustee and long-time volunteer, presented Lynne with a large card filled with well-wishes. He praised her dedication and hard work over the years.
He noted that the center has transformed from its early days into a vibrant resource for the Bulwark community, all thanks to Lynne’s efforts.
As Lynne embarks on this new chapter, Nicky Neil from Chepstow has stepped in as the new center organizer, ready to continue the legacy.
