The Better Beeston campaign invites locals to join their new project aimed at turning litter into funds for community projects in Beeston Hill
Beeston: Imagine if we could turn trash into cash. Well, that’s exactly what Better Beeston is aiming to do!
This campaign is all about cleaning up our neighborhood and making it a nicer place to live. Over the past year, they’ve organized tons of litter-picking and gardening events, teaming up with schools and local groups.
Now, they’re kicking off a new project for 2025 called the ‘We Can’ campaign, and they want everyone to pitch in. They’re asking local organizations—like schools, community centers, and businesses—to help collect aluminum cans, used canisters, and vape pens.
The plan is to gather these items and cash them in at a scrap yard. They’re also looking for businesses to sponsor them, maybe by matching the money raised each month. All the funds will go to community projects and other good causes.
Cllr Ed Carlisle from the Better Beeston team shared his thoughts: “Litter and fly-tipping are major issues in our communities, but we believe we can turn this around. Together, we can reduce litter, promote local action for a cleaner environment, and raise money for great causes. It’s a win-win! Please spread the word and get involved—thank you!”
