Haringey’s bin collection services include waste, recycling, and garden waste options for residents
Haringey: This London borough handles household waste and recycling collections. They provide services for general rubbish, recycling, food waste, and garden waste.
In some areas, recycling bins are emptied daily, while general waste is collected every two weeks. You can find collection dates for your street on the Haringey Council website.
Contaminated Bins
If bins have the wrong items, they won’t be collected. This prevents contamination in the truck. The Veolia crew will tag the bin and log a report. You’ll need to empty it before the next collection.
Recycling Bins
- Paper and cardboard, including shredded paper
- Glass bottles and jars
- Food tins, drink cans, and aerosols
- Plastic bottles
- Food and drink cartons (like Tetra Paks)
- Plastic food trays and containers, such as yogurt pots
Non-Recyclable/General Waste Bins
Garden Waste
Households can pay for weekly garden waste collection. Subscriptions start at £63 and run from April 1 to March 31. You can also drop off garden waste for free at the Haringey Reuse and Recycling Centre in Wood Green or try home composting.
‘Keep Your Bin Happy’ Campaign
Haringey Council launched the ‘Keep Your Bin Happy’ campaign. It encourages responsible waste disposal and recycling. By using the right bins and keeping food waste out of recycling, we can all help the environment. You can order a free food caddy for scraps by calling Veolia at 020 8885 7700.
