A plan to add an MOT garage to a Blackburn tyre fitting business has been denied due to concerns over noise and traffic issues
Blackburn: Mohammed Aslam wanted to upgrade his A1 Tyres shop on Clarendon Road. He planned to tear down an old building and put up a new one for an MOT garage and tyre fitting.
But the council said no. They worried it would create too much noise and bad smells for the nearby homes. Plus, they thought it could cause parking and traffic headaches.
One letter of objection and a petition with nine signatures came from locals in Clarendon Road and Victoria Close. They were concerned about traffic safety, noise, and even possible chemical spills.
The planning report noted that the site is already a tyre shop, but it looks a bit shabby. The new building would have made it look better and used land that’s already developed.
Even though there was a previous plan for a bigger building that never happened, this new proposal aimed to keep the tyre fitting service and add the MOT garage.
However, the site is pretty close to homes, just about 20 meters away. The council felt that the MOT activities could lead to more noise, which was a dealbreaker for them.
