Blackburn: Cassie Owens has made a heartfelt donation. She gave a cuddle cot to the Lancashire Women’s and Newborn Centre. This is in memory of her daughter, Bonnie, who sadly passed away at six weeks old in March 2023.

A cuddle cot is a special cooling device. It allows parents to spend more time with their stillborn or deceased baby. This time is precious for bonding and saying goodbye.

After losing Bonnie, Cassie started fundraising. She wants to help other families facing similar losses. She believes cuddle cots are vital for grieving parents.

Cassie shared, “I feel proud to do this in my daughter’s name. Seeing her name on the plaque is wonderful.” This donation aims to give families space and time to grieve.

The cuddle cot was donated in partnership with Sarah Bernosconi Parsons from Maggie’s Stillbirth Legacy. It will help families during their toughest times.

Nikki Galloway, a bereavement specialist midwife, expressed gratitude for the donation. She said cuddle cots offer families precious time to hold their baby and create memories.

She added, “Cassie’s generosity will make a real difference for families facing loss.” Cassie plans to keep fundraising to support other parents and maintain the cuddle cot.
