Blackburn: Karen Cych is over the moon after winning a £500 cash prize. She entered the draw through Blackburn with Darwen Council’s festive bin collection guide.

The prize was sponsored by Suez, the waste management company. To enter, residents just had to sign up for waste and recycling updates on the council’s website, Recycle BwD.

Karen shared her excitement, saying she’s never won anything before. With her wedding coming up in 18 months, she plans to use the money to help with the big day.

Cllr Jim Smith from the council praised Karen’s win, highlighting that signing up for notifications not only helps the environment but can also be a nice surprise for your wallet.

Victoria Crabtree, a regional manager at Suez, added that supporting local communities is a key value for them, making it a joy to be part of Blackburn with Darwen’s festive competition this year.
