New emails reveal Prince Andrew’s ongoing contact with Epstein, contradicting his past claims of severing ties.
New York City: Prince Andrew emailed Jeffrey Epstein, saying they should “keep in close touch.” This was two months after Andrew claimed he cut off contact with Epstein.
Recent court documents show Andrew’s friendship with Epstein continued, contradicting his earlier statements. In a 2019 Newsnight interview, he insisted he had no contact with Epstein after December 2010.
However, emails from February 2011 reveal he was still in touch. He told Epstein, “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon.” This raises questions about Andrew’s previous claims.
The emails surfaced during a case involving former Barclays Bank boss Jes Staley. Staley also claimed he stopped contact with Epstein, but emails suggest otherwise.
Andrew has denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein. He settled a civil case with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault when she was 17.
In his Newsnight interview, Andrew stated he ceased contact with Epstein after learning of his investigation in 2006. He maintained he had no further communication with Epstein.
Epstein was investigated in 2006 and later sentenced for soliciting a minor. He died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
Last year, the FBI paused its investigation into Andrew’s ties with Epstein, waiting for new evidence to move forward.
