Construction for the Botley Bypass will begin next month, aiming to ease local traffic and improve connectivity by summer 2027
Botley: Hampshire County Council approved a £48 million project for the Botley Bypass. Councillor Kirsty North announced this on Tuesday.
Milestone Infrastructure will handle the construction. They are part of M Group Services. The project should finish by late summer 2027.
Site clearing starts in February, with major construction kicking off in May. A public information event will happen before the big work begins.
Councillor North expressed her support for the project. She believes it will ease local travel, especially to Southampton and the M27.
She also mentioned that the bypass will help reduce congestion, noise, and pollution in Botley village. Construction starts next month.
North acknowledged that there will be some temporary disruptions. However, they aim to keep inconveniences minimal and will provide regular updates.
Sean Murphy from Milestone Infrastructure highlighted the project’s importance for Botley and the surrounding area. The team will work closely with the council for smooth delivery.
The final phase includes a new single-carriageway road from Winchester Street, a bridge over the River Hamble, and a new roundabout at the A334 junction.
The project will also improve pedestrian and cycle routes, encouraging active travel for local trips.
Updates about the project and community events will be available on the scheme’s webpages. The bypass opening has been pushed to late summer 2027 due to delays that started in autumn 2023.
