Fourteen-year-old Oscar Wright, who weighed under two pounds at birth, is fundraising for Hull’s NICU, which saved his life repeatedly.
Oscar Wright is fourteen years old. He weighed under two pounds at birth and was born ten weeks early.
He had breathing problems and spent three months in Hull Royal Infirmary’s NICU. Afterwards, he went home but needed oxygen therapy.
Oscar is running to fundraise for Hull’s NICU. He is nearing 50% of his £500 goal on his Just Giving page. His mom says Oscar runs an hour weekly.
While teen life with school and revision makes it tricky, Sarah says he is determined.
Family also needed NICU’s support, and he knows about giving back, being very grateful for NICU.
Oscar stated he was born early, weighing only 1lb 13oz. Hull NICU saved him repeatedly.
Now he is in secondary school and can do the Duke of Edinburgh award.
This award needs volunteering and physical activity. He combines these to give back and hopes the money helps babies, babies like he was.
Sarah remembers the NICU time, where families just go into autopilot. They spend days at the hospital and then go home each evening. This became the normal routine.
They had oxygen tanks at home too and needed them for three more months.
