A Barnstaple teen will skydive in memory of his father, raising money for a mens mental health charity.
Sam Parry is from Barnstaple. He lost his father, Simon, in February 2024. Sam will jump at Honiton Sky Dive Centre.
The skydive is at 8 AM on April 30. It is a 15,000ft tandem jump. Sam wants to mark his sixteenth birthday. His birthday is at April’s end. Simon was forty-three years old when he died.
Sam said his dad helped everyone. Sam needs three hundred pounds more. He wants to reach his one thousand pound goal.
The money goes to Andy’s Man Club. They help prevent male suicide. The charity offers support groups. These groups are across the UK and online.
Sam hopes the money will aid men. He wants to help men struggling. These men have mental health issues. Some men feel suicidal too. He wants them to gain needed support.
Sam remembers good times with his father. He wished for many more. His dad did not get help in time.
Sam is excited about the tandem skydive. He knows his dad would feel proud. Sam hopes to reach those who need help. He urges them to get support. His dad’s memory will live on.
Sam is a student at Pilton Community College. He plans to study engineering in college. He then wants to attend university. After college, he aims to join the military.
Sam also goes to Army Cadets. He now has the rank of Cadet Sergeant. He wants to advance higher in rank. Sam says his friends are very supportive. They give him a fantastic group of friends.
