Bracknell’s care home on Cain Road is set for exciting updates, including a cinema and activity room, after recent planning approvals.
They want to cut down the number of bedrooms to make space for some cool new facilities, like a cinema and an activity room. Originally, the plan was for a 68-bed care home along with 52 homes, which got the thumbs up back in 2021. But as construction is moving along, they’ve decided to reduce the number of bedrooms to 62.
There are also some adjustments to the car parking layout and the roof design, plus they’re adding a nice portico at the entrance. The number of parking spaces will stay at 26, which is the same as before, even with the layout changes.
Some neighbors have raised concerns, saying the parking plan might not be enough for the number of rooms in the care home. They worry that the existing parking issues on Turnpike Road could get worse with the new home.
Because of these objections, the plans needed the council’s planning committee to give them a nod. The changes will also create more space for a larger lounge, an assisted bathroom, a private dining area, and of course, that cinema.
It’s a bit of a trade-off, though, as one bedroom had to go to make room for the cinema. But overall, it sounds like some exciting improvements are on the way!
