Bracknell Forest Council is making strides in sustainability by reducing carbon emissions from its ranger fleet with eco-friendly fuel.
Bracknell: The council is making some cool changes to help the environment. They’ve switched two of their ranger vehicles to a new fuel that cuts down on carbon emissions.
This move is part of a bigger plan to be more sustainable. The new fuel, called HVO, comes from waste materials like used cooking oil. The best part? No need to change the vehicles at all!
Plus, they’ve got three electric vehicles in the mix, which really helps with their eco-friendly goals. The ranger team is also busy planting over 5,600 trees in different spots around the borough to improve air quality and capture more carbon.
They’ve even cleaned up Snaprails Pond to make it better for wildlife and improve water quality. And at The Parks, they’ve seeded a 0.7-hectare area with wildflowers, which means less mowing—just once a year now!
Councillor Mary Temperton, who leads the council, said switching to HVO fuel is a big step towards greener operations. She praised the team for their commitment to sustainability and their ongoing efforts to protect the environment.
The council is really focused on reducing its environmental impact, and this fuel switch is just one part of their larger strategy to promote greener practices.
