James Watt is launching House Of Unicorns, a reality show for entrepreneurs to win £2 million to grow their businesses
Aberdeenshire: James Watt is on a mission with his new show, House Of Unicorns. He’s looking for entrepreneurs who want to win a whopping £2 million to boost their businesses.
Watt, who co-founded Brewdog back in 2007, is putting in £1 million of his own money. Plus, there’s another million from Founders Capital, which is a big deal in the investment world.
He’s teaming up with Sony and Whisper Productions to bring this show to life. This isn’t his first rodeo; he’s already invested in several businesses through his previous show, The Next Unicorn.
Over six weeks, contestants will face challenges to win that massive cash prize. Watt’s been frustrated with the usual business shows like Dragons’ Den, so he’s shaking things up.
He believes the current reality TV formats are stale and need a refresh. “House of Unicorns” aims to change that by pushing entrepreneurs to their limits.
Watt wants to double the number of unicorns—companies valued at £1 billion or more—coming out of the UK. He’s passionate about helping businesses thrive, especially in tough times.
He’s also been vocal about how starting a business in the UK has become more challenging lately. Watt thinks the new Labour Government’s policies aren’t helping and hopes for a shift soon.
Earlier this month, he stirred up some controversy on social media by saying that the idea of work-life balance is for people who don’t enjoy their jobs. He got a mixed bag of reactions, with some people really upset.
Despite the backlash, he’s still pushing forward with his plans. Applications for House Of Unicorns are open now, and the show is set to air in 2025.
