James Watt is on a mission to help entrepreneurs win £2 million for their businesses with his new show, House Of Unicorns
Aberdeenshire: Watt is looking for entrepreneurs to join his new show, House Of Unicorns. They’ll have a shot at winning a whopping £2 million to boost their businesses.
The BrewDog co-founder is putting in £1 million of his own money, with another million coming from Founders Capital, which is a big player in the investment scene.
He’s teaming up with Sony and Whisper Productions for this project. Watt has a history of backing businesses through his previous show, The Next Unicorn.
Over six weeks, founders and business leaders will face challenges to compete for that massive cash prize.
Watt shared that this idea came from his frustrations with existing business shows like Dragons’ Den. He’s tired of the same old formats and stereotypes that just don’t resonate anymore.
His goal? To double the number of UK unicorns—companies valued at £1 billion or more—through this show.
However, he’s also pointed out that the new Labour Government’s policies are making it tougher to start a business in the UK.
Watt believes it’s a challenging time for new ventures, but he’s optimistic about the talent and opportunities still out there. He just thinks some entrepreneurs need a little extra help to thrive.
He’s not a fan of the recent autumn Budget either, noting that some founders are even moving their businesses abroad. He’s hoping for a shift in momentum soon.
