Residents of Lockerbie are frustrated as Bridge Street repairs remain unaddressed, leaving them feeling neglected by local authorities.
Lockerbie: Folks in Lockerbie are really fed up. They feel like the council has totally forgotten about them, especially when it comes to Bridge Street repairs.
At a recent community council meeting, Ken Bailey, a local resident, brought up the issue. He’s been waiting for four years for the roads and pavements to be fixed. Can you believe that?
Ken mentioned that while the roads team did some work, like adding a 20 mph speed limit and painting lines, they haven’t actually fixed the road surface. It’s getting worse, especially near Express Tyres, and the potholes are causing vibrations in nearby houses.
He also pointed out that the pavement on the bridge is in terrible shape. People are actually falling on it! It’s frustrating for him because they keep discussing it, but nothing gets done.
In response, Councillor Carolyn Wilson said she’s been following up on the issue. But the latest update was pretty vague, saying the work is booked but might not happen this financial year due to costs.
Mr. Bailey and others weren’t impressed with that answer. It feels like the problem is just being pushed aside again. They want action, not excuses!
