A teenage boy and his nine-year-old sister died in a hit-and-run in Essex while riding an e-scooter
Despite emergency services’ efforts, both children sadly died. Police believe they were riding a privately-owned e-scooter at the time. A man and a woman have been arrested for causing death by careless driving and failing to stop.
The woman has been bailed, while the man is under investigation. Chief Superintendent Leighton Hammett mentioned the community is eager for answers. He urged people not to speculate online about the incident.
Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward. On Sunday, about 20 community members gathered to leave flowers and tributes at the crash site. A card from a teacher described Roman as a “good kid” and a “joy to teach.”
Another card expressed sorrow for the loss of both children, sending thoughts and prayers to their family. The community is mourning this tragic loss together.
