A former pub in Powys was targeted by burglars who stole valuable silverware, raising concerns in the community.
Powys: The Anchor Inn was hit by burglars not once, but twice! The first break-in happened just before Christmas when the occupant was startled awake by two guys in dark clothes.
They pushed past the resident and made off with a bunch of silverware from the living room. Can you believe it? They escaped through a fire exit and ran off into the night.
Then, just a few weeks later, the same place was targeted again. This time, the thieves broke in through the fire exit and took even more silver items. It’s like they thought the place was abandoned!
The pub hasn’t been operational since the start of the Covid lockdown in March 2020, and it’s been sitting there looking a bit run-down. Police think that might be why it’s attracting trouble.
They’re asking anyone who might have seen something or knows anything about these burglaries to come forward. It’s a shame that such a historic place is being treated this way.
Among the stolen items are some really unique pieces, like silver teaspoons and even some fancy goblets. If you have any info, don’t hesitate to reach out to the police!
