Caerphilly: A woman, known as Mrs. X, had a real hassle with her rubbish not being picked up. After trying to sort it out with the council and getting nowhere, she decided to take it to the Public Services Ombudsman.

The Ombudsman, Michelle Morris, found that the council had messed up by not giving Mrs. X the right info. This led to a lot of frustration for her. Instead of dragging it out with a full investigation, they agreed to settle things quickly.

The council promised to apologize to her within a month and handed over £150 for the trouble. They also made sure that the refuse collection team knows to follow the guidelines on their website for her bins.

A spokesperson for the council mentioned they don’t usually comment on individual cases but acknowledged the Ombudsman’s recommendations. Just last week, council leader Sean Morgan admitted that bin collections over Christmas were not up to scratch and promised improvements.
