The Care Inspectorate has given a thumbs up to Quarriers’ housing support service after a recent inspection in Greenock
Greenock: The Care Inspectorate recently checked out the Quarriers charity’s housing support service. They provide at-home help for folks with physical and learning disabilities in Inverclyde.
After a surprise three-day inspection, the watchdog was pretty impressed. They found that the staff were great at supporting people, especially those who communicate non-verbally. You could really see how comfortable and happy the residents were around them.
The report highlighted that the homes were cozy and warm, which is always a plus. It also mentioned that the staff were well-trained in important areas like safety and health. They really know how to keep everyone safe and sound.
Another good point was that personal plans were in place, ensuring that everyone’s wishes were respected. The staff understood how important routine is and tailored their support to each individual.
However, there was a bit of a concern regarding how Quarriers managed people’s personal finances. The Care Inspectorate noted that this issue should have been addressed sooner. They found that some residents had accumulated quite a bit of money, which could affect their rent and care charges.
A spokesperson for Quarriers acknowledged the issue, explaining that the pandemic had changed how people spent their money. They assured that they’re working on it and are committed to using any funds to support the residents’ well-being.
Interestingly, the Care Inspectorate used a new inspection method this time, focusing on organizations that have previously shown a high level of care. If you want to check out the full report, you can find it on the Care Inspectorate’s website.
