Carmarthenshire tops Wales in energy efficiency, helping hundreds of households save on bills
Newport: Carmarthenshire has made big strides in energy efficiency. They installed 208 energy-saving measures through the Great British Insulation Scheme. This helped 169 households save money.
The government scheme, worth £1 billion, aims to insulate homes. This makes them more energy-efficient and lowers bills.
According to data from PE, Newport ranks sixth in energy efficiency in Wales. Carmarthenshire is first, with 271 measures installed, helping 232 households from May 2023 to November 2024.
Rhondda Cynon Taf is second, and Cardiff is third in the rankings.
Josh Edwards from PE shared insights on energy efficiency. He said making homes more energy-efficient helps combat rising energy costs and reduces environmental impact.
He suggested simple upgrades like better insulation and draught-proofing. Installing energy-efficient heating systems can keep homes warmer for less.
For those wanting to cut energy bills, small changes matter. Using energy-saving light bulbs and sealing gaps around doors and windows can lead to savings.
Even low-cost measures can have a big impact when combined. The same goes for businesses, where energy efficiency upgrades can cut costs significantly.
Investing in sustainability enhances comfort and shows a commitment to the environment. Across Wales, 3,237 measures were installed, helping 2,696 households.
