Torbay community groups can now apply for funding to support local projects and initiatives, with grants available up to £2,000
The central Torbay Lottery Fund has raised £10,000 for the 2024/2025 Small Grants Fund. So, if you’re part of a charity or community organization, you can apply for up to £2,000 to cover specific activities or buy small equipment.
Cllr Jackie Thomas, who’s in charge of Tourism, Culture & Events, shared that the Torbay Lottery has been a fantastic way to help local communities since 2017. They’ve already given out over £91,000 in grants, and they’re eager to see new groups apply this year.
Joining the Torbay Lottery is free and fun! Good causes earn 50p from every ticket sold, and there are marketing materials to help spread the word. Currently, 151 local good causes are signed up, raising more than £257,000 since the lottery started.
Last year, the top fundraiser was the Torbay National Coastwatch Institution, bringing in over £1,100. Plus, in 2024, there was a big £25,000 jackpot winner!
The panel will review applications and let successful groups know within six weeks after the deadline, which is 4pm on March 3. You don’t have to be a current good cause to apply, but you’ll need to meet certain requirements.
The funding aims to support projects that align with the community’s goals. So, if you have a project in mind that could make a difference, don’t hesitate to apply!
