Williamsons Bakery has closed its doors after serving the community for generations, leaving many locals feeling nostalgic and sad.
Knutsford: Williamsons Bakery has officially closed its doors, and it’s a real bummer for the community. They wrapped things up at the end of last year on Parkgate Lane and just recently on Chester Road in Northwich.
This bakery was a staple for over three generations, run by the Williamson family until Graham Williamson decided to retire. After that, David and Jane Mooney took over, bringing their own flair to the place.
The Parkgate Lane location was the newer one, while Chester Road had been around longer. Interestingly, the Chester Road site has already reopened as The Knutsford Sandwich Co, which kicked off on January 20.
David and Jane shared on social media that they hope to return to Northwich someday. However, they mentioned that the building isn’t quite right for them at the moment, and the rent is making it tough to keep going.
People have been sharing their thoughts online, with some expressing their sadness over the closure. One person called it a “brilliant bakery,” while another said they were “genuinely gutted.”
In their social media post, David and Jane expressed excitement about this new chapter. They’re giving the Knutsford shop a makeover and rebranding it as The Knutsford Sandwich Co, which seems fitting since that’s what they’ll be serving.
They also mentioned how supportive their landlord has been, which is always nice to hear. The new sandwich shop is located on Parkgate Lane, and they’re open from 8 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
