Ben Ruddock was found guilty of manslaughter after a tragic incident that led to the death of Lloyd Velasquez in Ellesmere Port last year
It started when Lloyd and a friend went to Ruddock’s place to grab an e-bike they thought was stolen. Things got a bit heated, but they left after getting the bike. Later, Ruddock sent some pretty threatening voice messages to Lloyd and even armed himself with a knife.
Fast forward to that evening, and Lloyd spotted Ruddock with some mates. After a confrontation, Ruddock pulled out the knife and, sadly, stabbed Lloyd. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, but he didn’t make it.
Ruddock tried to cover his tracks by ditching the knife and changing his clothes. But the police caught up with him in Merseyside, and he was arrested. A post-mortem confirmed that Lloyd died from a stab wound, and Ruddock was charged with murder, which later turned into a manslaughter charge.
The court found him guilty, and he’s set to be sentenced soon. The detective involved in the case expressed that no verdict could bring Lloyd back, but at least Ruddock is being held accountable.
Lloyd’s family is heartbroken. His mother shared how much pain his death has caused, especially for his baby son, who will never know his dad. They’re grateful for the support during this tough time but are left with a huge void in their lives. It’s a tragic reminder of the impact of knife crime and how quickly things can spiral out of control.
