Visitors are raising eyebrows over the high prices for Chester Zoo’s new safari lodges
Chester: A new area called ‘The Reserve’ has opened at Chester Zoo. Visitors can stay in one of 51 lodges. Imagine waking up to giraffes and a beautiful nature lake!
The setting is designed to feel like the African plains. There’s also a bar, restaurant, and special animal experiences for guests.
You can book these lodges starting August 18. The cheapest option is the ‘Savannah Explorer’ package, priced at £672.50 for two adults for one night.
Each lakeside lodge is 38 sq. m and has a super king bed and a sofa bed. You’ll enjoy a lake view, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a TV. Plus, you get zoo access, campfire stories, breakfast, and a £25 dinner allowance at the Amboseli restaurant.
If you want more flexibility, the ‘Savannah Adventurer’ package is available for £811. It includes the same room and perks, but without the dinner allowance limit.
The top option is the ‘Savannah VIP’ package. It features a larger ‘Giraffe Lodge’ and includes a guided evening safari, giraffe wake-up experience, and conservation activities. Prices start at £1,177 and include breakfast and a three-course dinner.
Prices drop outside summer. In early November, the ‘Savannah Explorer’ package can be as low as £403. The ‘Savannah Adventurer’ is around £510 then.
Some people on social media are calling the prices ‘insane’ and ‘ridiculous’. They argue that for these prices, you could see real wildlife elsewhere.
