Chirk: If you live in Chirk and are 16 or younger or over 60, you can swim for free at the Chirk Leisure Centre. How cool is that?
The Wrexham County Borough Council is really pushing this offer. They want everyone eligible to get moving and stay active. It’s a great way to keep fit!
Cllr John Pritchard, who’s in charge of Adult Social Care and Health, mentioned that swimming is a chill way to exercise. You can go at your own pace, which is nice.
He also pointed out that these free sessions are happening at three Freedom Leisure centres in Wrexham County. It’s a fantastic chance for both young and older folks to boost their health through regular exercise.
So, here’s the scoop: free swimming for under-16s is on Sundays from 1pm to 2pm, and for those over 60, it’s Fridays from 12pm to 1pm. Mark your calendars!
Richard Milne, the area manager, expressed pride in supporting this initiative. He’s excited to see more locals getting active and enjoying the great facilities in the area.
Just a heads up, if you want to join in, make sure to bring some ID to prove you live in Wales and don’t forget your swimming gear!
Oh, and if you’re an adult with kids under eight, you’ll need to pay for them, and they must be accompanied by an adult at a 2:1 ratio. Kids over eight can swim alone if they can do it safely.
