Preston: So, here’s the scoop. Janet Connor, who’s 52, showed up at Preston Crown Court today via video link from prison. She’s accused of murdering Zoe Crowther, who was 51.

Officers found Zoe at her flat in Walmsley Close, Church, after they got a call about a welfare check on January 14. It was just before lunchtime when they arrived.

During the video hearing, Janet wore a grey prison sweatshirt and only spoke to confirm her name and that she could see and hear everything in court.

They set a provisional trial date for July 14, which is expected to last between five and seven days. Before that, there’s a plea and trial prep hearing on March 21.

At a previous hearing, it came out that Zoe died from multiple stab wounds and had some defense wounds too. She had been staying at Janet’s place over Christmas.

Judge Robert Altham made it clear to Connor that she needs to be present for her trial, or it could go on without her. For now, she’s still in custody until her next hearing.

Zoe’s family shared a heartfelt tribute, saying she was a kind-hearted and loving person. They’re heartbroken and are asking for privacy as they deal with this tragic loss.
