Despite funding concerns, Citizens Advice Tendring continues to support locals facing tough times with essential services and advice.
Clacton: Citizens Advice Tendring is facing some uncertainty after Tendring Council announced a review of their funding. This decision could impact the service’s future, with a verdict expected by the end of the month.
The charity provides free advice on various issues like housing, work, law, health, family, and money. Last year, they received around £175,000 from the council, which is crucial for their operations.
Melanie Hammond, the chief exec, mentioned that the service is busier than ever due to the cost-of-living crisis. She emphasized that while funding isn’t guaranteed, they are committed to helping those in need.
Melanie expressed disappointment over the potential funding cuts, stating, “Our top priority is always the people who need us.” She highlighted that many are struggling to cover basic expenses like housing and food.
In the past year, Citizens Advice Tendring assisted over 11,000 people and helped increase welfare benefits significantly. They continue to operate from various outreach centers throughout the week, offering drop-in services and appointments.
So, if you need help, don’t hesitate to reach out. They’re still here for the community, ready to lend a hand.
