A Clacton resident wins a custom hearing aid, bringing hope for better communication and quality of life after years of hearing loss
Clacton: Peter Clowsley, a 79-year-old retired worker, has faced hearing loss for two decades. He used to operate noisy machinery in a Colchester factory, which didn’t help his ears.
His son Jake and daughter-in-law Ataya decided to nominate him for a custom hearing aid worth £4,200 from the Hearing Care Centre in Langham. They saw a competition and thought it was a perfect chance for Peter.
Peter’s health has been a rollercoaster, with a heart attack and mini-stroke in the past. His hearing has gotten worse, making phone calls and conversations tough, especially with background noise.
He tried NHS hearing aids, but they didn’t do much for him. When he found out he won the competition, he was in disbelief.
The prize included appointments with an audiologist, which was a huge bonus. After getting fitted for the hearing aid, Peter felt hopeful. He said it would help him hear conversations better.
Jake expressed their joy, saying it was a life-changing moment for Peter. The Hearing Care Centre has been around for over 20 years, helping people with hearing issues in the community.
They offer various services, including hearing tests and earwax removal. The team is dedicated to making a difference, and they were thrilled to find someone like Peter who truly needed the help.
With this new hearing aid, Peter can look forward to enjoying life more, including playing golf and socializing without the struggle of not hearing properly.
